North Birkenhead Development Trust are a charity who manage a multi-purpose community centre with a year-round community program in Birkenhead, Wirral. We are proud to hold the ethos and values of community organising at the heart of everything we do.
The Trust work in one of the most socio-economically deprived areas in the UK, and with that we bring expertise in organising in the face of austerity. We work with people to organise around not only their personal goals, but how their challenges, experiences, and stories can change the world for others.
We bring to the table every day of experience of working in communities, facing tough times, and the realities of what that brings for the organisations managing it.
We are now managed by a community organiser, so we have lived the challenges organisers face, enjoyed the achievements, and also understand the challenge and achievement from an organisations point of view.
We offer passion and drive to the board with a little dose of reality. Having been part of the Community Organisers’ programme in lots of different forms for the last six years, not least as a Social Action Hub, we welcome the opportunity to be part of its growth and shape the future that will ultimately impact our community and many others like ours across the UK.
