Strengthening Local Democracy

This session will explore how we can strengthen local democracy.

Nick Gardham (CEO of Community Organisers and Convenor of the Humanity Project) will facilitate the session and set the scene outlining why local democracy isn’t working and what we need to do so communities can take back power in their community.

Glenn Jenkins from Marsh Farm Outreach will speak about the grassroots organising work he has done with the Marsh Farm community giving the community a voice and a say over their area.

Finally, Clare Farrell (Co-Founder of Extinction Rebellion and Convenor of the Humanity Project) will talk about the work the Humanity Project folk are doing. They will be running community assemblies helping ensure marginalized voices are heard in national decisions, helping to rebuild democracy from the ground up.
