SouthGen (Southwold and Waveney Valley Regeneration Society Limited) are raising funds through Community Shares to redevelop part of the old Southwold Hospital into facilities for the community, including affordable housing and community space.

As a result, SouthGen is seeking the widest and most inclusive membership.  Anyone who buys a share becomes a member and has a vote in the direction of the charity.  For instance, how to invest SouthGen’s profits back into the community to benefit local people.

The Course:

• In Day One of the course, participants will be introduced to the key concepts in community organising.
• On Day Two, participants will learn how to develop listening skills, build relationships, and design a listening campaign, and will develop SouthGen’s field campaign to sell Community Shares in the Old Hospital.

The courses are free, and lunch will be provided on both days.

Participants will receive a CERTA accredited certificate of participation and learn skills that are personally and professionally important.

The courses will be delivered from 9 am-3 pm on Friday 1st February and 9 am-4.30 pm on Saturday 2nd February 2019 by Jessica Walker, who grew up in Kessingland and now works as a community organiser in London.
